Walls
As a child, it was common to find me in a hand-made blanket fort, surrounded by my favorite things, a book in hand. Within the confines of my self-made space, I felt as though I was transported to a different world. This body of work is reminiscent of the childhood imagination I experienced in my self-made spaces. For each photograph, an installation is created either around or inside the same handmade wooden 4’x8’ box, and a model is photographed within the installation. “Walls” represents the space outside or inside of us, our frame of mind, the walls we build to protect us, and the boxes we are forced into. The installations are created with repetition, multiples, and excess. I enjoy the time spent with, and in my art, as much as I enjoy the actual photograph.
